Lin Chunli and her family are from JieYang in Guangdong Province. This 6-year-old girl is the second child of the family. She has a 9-year-old sister. Her parents divorced three years ago and Chunli’s dad supports her and her sister by working in a local factory. His salary is very low, but he sends as much money as possible to his parents to support his two daughters. The Grandparents are rural farmers, and don’t enjoy a stable income, so they are unable to help with additional financial support for the expensive surgery. The dad has will use the family’s life savings and has tried hard to borrow additional funds from other family members and friends.
The girl’s mother is not in contact with her children since the divorce, so they have run out of options to secure additional funds.
